To determine whether a child is developmentally prepared to start formal schooling (Grade R/ 1). It helps parents, teachers and schools ensure that the child has the foundational skills needed to cope with and benefit from the school environment

Purpose

Identify delays/developmental gaps early
Determine if child would benefit from an extra year in preschool/intervention before Grade 1
Support teachers with information for individualised planning in the classroom
Provides parents with peace of mind and guidance on how to best support their child
